Chat GPT is an advanced chatbot that is known for its remarkable ability to generate high-quality prose within seconds, distinguishing it from other similar technologies. Its growing prominence has raised concerns about its potential impact on student assessments in higher education, among other fields. This study aimed to examine the advantages and disadvantages of incorporating Chat GPT technology into educational contexts, as well as its potential effects on student learning outcomes and teaching methods. The study was designed as a literature review. Our findings show that while there are strong supporters and detractors of Chat GPT’s use in education, both sides present compelling arguments. Proponents argue that Chat GPT can transform teaching and learning, providing personalized learning experiences through its ability to generate human-like responses that adapt to a user’s communication style. However, critics express concerns about its limitations, particularly regarding the teaching of critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as the potential erosion of human interaction and individualized instruction. While Chat GPT holds promise as an educational tool, it poses challenges that need to be carefully evaluated. Therefore, educators and policymakers must weigh the benefits and challenges of incorporating Chat GPT in the classroom and develop responsible strategies for its use.
